Lietuvos Rytas started the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) quarterfinal against Ventspils on a high note, defeating the Latvian side 99-79 (20-18, 28-17, 33-25, 18-19) to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Renaldas Seibutis led the Lithuanians with 19 points, Jonas Valanciunas scored 16 and added 10 rebounds, while Mindaugas Katelynas and Tyrese Rice chipped in with 16 and 13 points respectively.
For the visitors, Martin Meiers was the top-scorer with 16 points, Todd Abermethy had 13, as Samuel Willard scored 12 and Jahmar Young finished the game with 10.
