Despite losing the first game of the Baltic
Basketball League (BBL) quarterfinal series to Rudupis in Prienai, Zalgiris bounced
back with two convincing victories at home to advance to the league’s Final
Four. The last win, which clinched a semifinal spot, came on Wednesday, as
Zalgiris blew right past Rudupis 90-73 (26-18, 21-18, 18-13, 25-24) in Kaunas.
The hosts started the game with a 15-0 run, which
set the mood for the entire game. Although, Rudupis managed to get back within
22-26, Zalgiris answered with an 11-0 run to get regain a double-digit lead.
Tomas Delininkaitis was the top-scorer for
Zalgiris with 18 points, Marko Popovic had 12, while Robertas Javtokas and
Mantas Kalnietis chipped in with 11 points each.
Valdas Dabkus and Adas Juskevicius led the
visitors from Prienai with 17 and 16 points respectively, while Simas
Buterlevicius, on loan from Lietuvos Rytas, added 11 points.
