Zalgiris suffered another blow after losing Sonny Weems for the rest of the season due to an injury, as American point guard DeJuan Collins was given a three-month ban by the FIBA Disciplinary Committee for the use of banned substances.
Traces of cannabis were found in the athletes sample and the club was officially informed about the suspension on Tuesday. Although, the most severe suspension is two years, the FIBA Disciplinary Committee decided to shorten the time to three months.
A similar incident had occurred in Zalgiris with Dainius Salenga last year, when banned substances were found in the veteran’s organism. The player was then suspended for six months.
