Jonas Kazlauskas is
counting his last hours at the helm of CSKA Moscow. Although the Russian club
has a team option to extend the contract with the 57-year-old specialist for
next year, Eurohoops.net is reporting that CSKA will not use it.
The Lithuanian coach
led CSKA to yet another triumphal finish in the Russian League (PBL), the
Russian Cup and the VTB League, but saw his team collapse against Olympiacos in
the Euroleague final, in which the Russian side allowed a big lead to slip away
and were forced to concede defeat.
CSKA last won the
Euroleague in 2008 under coach Ettore Messina, who is said to be at the top of
the club’s wish list to replace Kazlauskas. However, the current Los Angeles
Lakers assistant coach is unlikely to return to Moscow.
