Sarunas Jasikevicius decided to choose Barcelona over Kaunas, signing a one-year deal with the Catalan club instead of Zalgiris. The 36-year-old playmaker will return to Spain after nine years spent elsewhere around the globe.
Although there were negotiations between the player and Zalgiris, the player chose Spain over his hometown Kaunas for the upcoming season.
Jasikevicius has won to Euroleague titles with Barcelona, during the three seasons he spent in the club between 2000 and 2003.
After that, he played for the likes of Maccabi Tel Aviv, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, Panathinaikos Athens, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius and Fenerbahce Istanbul.
Jasikevicius averaged 7.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists for Panathinaikos in Euroleague last season and was also one of the key players for the Lithuanian national team in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela, scoring 10.8 points and dishing out 4.5 assists per game.
