Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius will
get a chance to face each other before the actual start of the season, as the
two strongest teams Lithuanian teams will play in the newly organized Super Cup
competition.
The Super Cup will be played on a home and away
basis, with Kaunas hosting the first game on September 5, while the second game
will take place in Vilnius on September 17.
During the entire last season, Lietuvos Rytas
couldn’t record even a single victory against Zalgiris, as the the club from
Kaunas proved to be the better side in all six meetings, including the 3-0
triumph in the Lithuanian League (LKL) finals.
