In a press conference on Tuesday, Kestutis Kemzura announced the 19-man shortlist for the Lithuanian national team. The list will include Sarunas Jasikevicius, who decided to give a last crack at the Olympic Games. It would be the third Olympics in a row for Saras, if Lithuania were to get past the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela.

The turmoil in FIBA Europe is reaching a climax, as what started off as an urgent removal of secretary general Nar Zanolin, could very well backfire against the FIBA Europe president Olafur Rafnsson, who initatied the sacking in the first place. In the FIBA Europe General Assembly, which is taking place this weekend in Ljubljana, it was decided to call a conference for the elections of a new president, a new board and a new treasurer.

The Lithuanian champions Zalgiris and the best Lithuanian League (LKL) performers were honoured in the league’s closing ceremony in Kaunas on Wednesday. The players of Zalgiris were presented with the new design Championship rings, while Tomas Delininkaitis was awarded the LKL Finals MVP trophy. Delininkaitis was averaging 16.3 points per game against Lietuvos Rytas in the Finals and ended up with the MVP trophy over the likes of Mantas Kalnietis and Marko Popovic, who had stellar performances as well.

Green is the color, Zalgiris is the name – the Lithuanian League (LKL) trophy is staying in Kaunas, as Zalgiris finished off one of the most dominant seasons domestically in years with a 3-0 sweep of Lietuvos Rytas in the LKL Finals. After taking convincing wins in games one and two, Zalgiris came out on top in game three as well, defeating the rivals from Vilnius 90-84 (25-20, 22-24, 22-19, 21-21) in the closest game of the series in Kaunas on Sunday.
